Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential (DfE, 2014). INTRODUCTION In order to ensure that all children receive the right foundation for good future progress (DfE 2014 p.5), current Government policy holds equality and individuality at its core. The EYFS emphasises the need for a professional workforce working in partnership with parents and providing a focus on positive relationships, enabled environments and a unique child who is learning constantly (Early Education 2012). As one of the prime areas of the EYFS, Communication and Language forms the basis for successful learning (Dfe 2012 p.8) .
